Today, Congressman Ben Cline from Virginia’s Sixth District has been appointed to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) by Speaker Mike Johnson.

“I am honored to be appointed to the House Intelligence Committee,” said Rep. Ben Cline. “Our world has become an increasingly dangerous place over the last four years, and I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to strengthen our national security and helping to keep the American people safe against ongoing and emerging threats. As a member of the Judiciary Committee, I also hope to bring a fresh perspective that ensures the Constitution, and in turn, the rights of the American people are vigorously defended within our intelligence community.”

The HPSCI was established in 1977 with a mandate to oversee the United States Intelligence Community. This includes monitoring intelligence-related activities across eighteen elements of the U.S. Government as well as the Military Intelligence Program.

In addition to his new role on HPSCI, Congressman Cline will continue his duties on several other committees: Appropriations, Judiciary, and Budget.

Representing Virginia’s Sixth Congressional District, Congressman Cline brings experience from his previous roles as an attorney in private practice, assistant prosecutor, and Member of the Virginia House of Delegates. He resides in Botetourt County with his wife Elizabeth and their two children.
