Virginia Republican U.S. Representative Ben Cline stated on Tuesday that the Republican Party’s legislative agenda is focused on addressing what he described as long-standing affordability issues for Americans, which he attributes to policies enacted by Democrats over several years. He cited concerns such as trade globalization and rising healthcare costs.
Cline made his remarks during an appearance on Florida’s Voice Radio with Drew Steele, where he discussed the difficulties in reversing the effects of policies that have accumulated over time. “We’ve tackled affordability from day one,” Cline said. He added that price increases were a result of regulatory actions and legislation from the previous administration, which he argued contributed to inflation over the last four years.
Ben Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th congressional district since 2019, succeeding Bob Goodlatte. Before joining Congress, Cline served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018. He was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and currently resides in Fincastle. Cline holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bates College and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond.
