Virginia Congressman Ben Cline announced that the House Appropriations Committee has passed the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development bill, which includes funding for improvements to Interstate 81. The announcement was made on Thursday.
According to a media release, $17 million has been allocated for key upgrades and potential widening along the I-81 corridor. The highway is crucial for commerce, with more than 12 million commercial trucks traveling on it each year, moving goods worth over $300 billion.
