In 2024, eight of the nine H-1B petitions submitted by employers classified under the Health Care and Social Assistance industry located across Shenandoah Valley News publication area were approved, according to data provided by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub.

This represents an approval rate of 88.9%, which is lower than the average in Virginia across all industries.

That year, the statewide average approval rate for H-1B petitions stood at 97.9%, slightly higher than 2023’s 97%. Across the publication area, employers across all industries submitted 34 petitions during the same period, with an approval rate of 94.1%.

The employers that filed the most petitions in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector in Shenandoah Valley News publication area during 2024 included Valley Health System with six petitions, Winchester Medical Center with two petitions, and Adult Care Center of the Northern Shenandoah Valley, Inc. with one.

Valley Health System and Winchester Medical Center led the industry in the publication area with the highest approval rate of 100% each.
