Congressman Ben Cline of Virginia’s Sixth District has been named a Republican conferee for the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills covering Agriculture, Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, and the Legislative Branch. In this capacity, Cline will join 18 other House Republicans to negotiate with Senate counterparts in finalizing these funding measures.
“It’s been nearly six years since Congress last convened a conference committee, and House Republicans are steadfast in our commitment to restoring fiscal responsibility in Washington. This role gives me a vital opportunity to advocate for provisions that best serve the interests of America and Virginia’s Sixth District,” said Rep. Ben Cline.
Cline has represented Virginia’s 6th district in Congress since 2019, succeeding Bob Goodlatte (https://cline.house.gov/about). Before his election to Congress, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 to 2018 (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/C001118). He previously worked as an attorney in private practice and as an assistant prosecutor.
Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 1972, Cline is currently 51 years old and resides in Fincastle with his wife Elizabeth and their two children. He earned his undergraduate degree from Bates College in 1994 and completed a law degree at the University of Richmond in 2007.
