Chilhowie Town Park

The Town of Chilhowie presets their first "On Stage" music event featuring the renowned beach music band, Phantom! Bring your chairs and beach towels. Food trucks will be on site. Check it out here.

Sign up for Football & Cheer
Now - Aug 20

Sign-up for Recreation Football and Cheer for grades 1-6 is going on now until August 20. Cost is $50.00 payable at time of sign up. Registration covers the cost of picture packages and all children will keep their uniforms. Register at the Chilhowie Town Hall 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. 
Individuals interested in officiating rec league football are asked to contact Jeff Smarr at 276-646-3232. Check it out

Wednesday: Closed
Friday, Saturday: 11 am - 2 pm

Smyth County Public Libraries now fully open

All library branches are now fully open and all services have resumed. Unvaccinated visitors are required to wear masks and CDC guidance recommends that all people wear masks indoors. To welcome patrons back, all fines will be waived for overdue materials returned between August 1 and 13.
Curbside service will continue to be available and should be arranged with each branch. Outdoor lockers are now available at all branches for 24/7 pickup of reserved library materials.

St. Clairs Chilhowie Senior Citizens Group Now Meeting
1st & 3rd Tuesdays 10 am

The St. Clairs Chilhowie Senior Citizens Group is now meeting in person in the Town of Chilhowie Community Room
on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Come out and join us.

Due to ongoing construction on the BRDC campus, we have decided to cancel the traditional Summer Rally and replace it with a volunteer weekend full of projects that will help us achieve our goal of operating at full capacity by the 48th anniversary of the Mount Rogers Naturalist Rally in 2022. Crowe Hollerers Medicine Show
Saturday, Aug. 28 1 - 10 pm
Marion Farmers Market

Along with two short plays, the medicine show will feature several local and regional bands and a growing list of vendors selling food, jewelry, crafts, herbs and more. Back in the old days, touring acts would travel the country in medicine shows, peddling miracle cures between various bits of entertainment. 
The old time medicine shows promised a cure for disease, wrinkles, a longer life and any number of ailments. Sage notes that his show isn't selling patent medicine or miracle elixirs, but promises that it's “a cure for what ails you” nonetheless.

Rachel Gibson

R.L. GIBSON (Rachel) works as a mixed media artist with work in galleries from New York to Los Angeles and collections around the world. Her practice currently explores work that lays embroidery over other mixed media. The hand-stitched component of this art lends movement to otherwise still media while paying homage to the band of quilting women she calls family. Rachel, along with her husband Jon, owns The Ford Studios in Downtown Marion. Visit Lola's at the Lincoln for a selection of Rachel's work and The Ford Studios to see her full collection.

The Salt Park is located on Hwy 91. Come tour the camp and cabins, watch a blacksmith at work, visit our sutler, and more. There will be a vendor selling artifacts. No admission charge, except for the Ghost Walk on Saturday night which will be $3 per person. For more information, click here.
