9

City of Lexington issued the following announcement on Dec. 10

December 9, 2021, the Virginia Department of Health announced the first confirmed case of the COVID-19 Omicron variant in Virginia.

Scientists are hard at work studying the newly identified variant to understand how easily it spreads and how sick it makes people. What we do know is how to protect ourselves and our communities!

  • Get your COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot as soon as you are eligible. Visit vase.vdh.virginia.gov to find a clinic near you!
  • Mask up when indoors or in areas of high transmission.
  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.
  • Don't take the risk-- take the test! Get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms or have been exposed to someone who tested positive, even if you have been vaccinated. Isolate until you receive a negative test.
We can do our part to slow the spread and stay safe, CSHD! Vaccination is how Virginia, the U.S. and the world will put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us.
