Hornets Win Big Against Mounties

Shenandoah University Athletics issued the following announcement on March 1

No. 18 Shenandoah University saw victory again Tuesday afternoon in a non-league game versus Mt. Aloysius College.

Back-to-back-to-back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the sixth propelled the Hornets (7-1) to their 9-1 win over the Mounties (0-1) 

IN BRIEF

SU starting pitcher Calvin Pastel (1-0) tossed five innings in his first start of the season and allowed one run on three hits. Pastel struck out six batters in his outing.

Sophomore Sam Horn hit his first collegiate home run giving Shenandoah a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Two innings later Horn, Kooper Anderson, Brody Pickette, and Frankie Ritter launched four straight home runs to give SU the 9-1 lead.  

Pickette impressed in his first career start getting two hits and one RBI along with scoring three runs.

Coming out of the arm barn, Parker Farrington pitched three scoreless innings holding the Mounties to no hits and no runs in his relief appearance. SU turned to Luke Radaszewski for the final inning and he struck out one to help the Hornets close out the game.

The Mounties were held scoreless for the last six innings and hitless for the last four frames.

Eight Hornets found the hit column in the teams 12-hit afternoon with four hitting at least two.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah is home tomorrow against Dickinson at 3 p.m. in a non-conference game.
