No. 29 W&L Tops Tennis

Shenandoah University Athletics issued the following announcement on March 8

No. 29 Washington & Lee earned its first ODAC men's tennis victory of the season Tuesday with an 8-1 win over host Shenandoah.

Sophomore Keith Orr was the lone winner for Shenandoah (1-5, 1-2 ODAC). He won 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) over Evan Erb at No. 1 singles.

IN BRIEF

The Generals (1-7, 1-0), whose schedule to this point included five ranked NCAA Division III teams as well as two NCAA Division I squads, dropped just four games in winning the remaining five singles matches.

W&L won two of those at love.

In doubles, Orr and Gene Perle-Jones gave Will Kistler and James Kurani all they could handle in an 8-7 (7-4) loss at No. 1.

Washington & Lee won at Nos. 2 and 3 at 2 and 3, respectively.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah hosts Marymount on Sunday in a noon non-league match.
