Roanoke Topples Men's Lax

25

Visiting Roanoke College used a strong middle of the game Wednesday evening to key a 14-9 ODAC men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah.

Roanoke (10-5, 6-2 ODAC) outscored the Hornets (9-5, 4-3) 11-5 in the second and third periods to build a lead it would not relinquish.

IN BRIEF

Shenandoah scored three of the game's four fourth quarter goals, but could not come all the way back.

Holding a 5-3 lead in the waning moments of the first half, the Maroons scored the final two goals of the second quarter and the initial two of the third to take a 9-3 lead 30 seconds into the second half.

SU answered with a three-goal run from the 13:51 to 11:22 marks, but would get no closer than this three-goal deficit.

Matt Daniel, Tyler Held, and Zachary Heiderman tallied in the fourth, with Heiderman's man-up goal 28 seconds before the final buzzer closing out the evening's scoring.

Held led the hosts with three goals and one assist for four points with Daniel scoring two goals and Chris Baker chipping in a goal and an assist.

Roanoke outshot SU, 56-38, had a 47-27 advantage on groundballs and won 15-of-27 faceoffs.

Mark Isabelle made 18 saves.
