Winchester and Shenandoah University are preparing for some “Bloomin’ Good Times, with Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival events being held all around the area this week.
We’re excited to see the return of the full festival – the Firefighters’ and Grand Feature parades and the coronation of Queen Shenandoah are all back after a two-year absence. We also have plenty of on-campus events at Shenandoah for you to enjoy, ranging from a Dash N Dye and the Club Carnival to the Blossom Bash. We’re ready to make some bloomin’ good memories! With all of that being said, we expect you will act responsibly and represent Shenandoah in the best way possible.
This is a time when you’ll make choices about alcohol, drugs and your behavior. Please remember to follow the university’s Code of Conduct, local and state laws and to model good citizenship.
If you need help for yourself or others, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is always open; please call (540) 678-4444 for assistance. If you notice a student who is displaying behaviors that may get in the way of a student’s ability to be successful in the university environment, please fill out the Student of Concern form. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.
I want to reiterate how important it is for each of us to ensure the safety of our campus community and the community at large. This is not a time to do harm to yourself, someone else, your good academic standing or career prospects. I hope you make wonderful memories — but that you do so responsibly. I believe in the Shenandoah University community, and I believe you will make good decisions, take care of your friends, and be rested for class on Monday, May 2. We’re a caring community, so please look out for one another.
Although we hope everyone enjoys this celebration of spring as much as possible, we also hope that you do so responsibly and safely so that you can end the semester happily and healthily, and, for those of you preparing to graduate, so you can participate fully in your commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 21.
We’ve risen to meet all the challenges of this year, maintaining in-person classes and keeping COVID-19 cases low. Let’s keep up the good work!
