Property Sale 317 Tisinger Road: A few questions were posed late this week about the proposed disposition

of county real property located at 317 Tisinger Road, Mt. Jackson. The sale would include a proposed purchase price of $605,000, the assessed value stands at $708,500. The purchase price includes the ability of the County (sheriffs office) to continue to utilize one of the buildings for a 12 month period for storage without additional lease/rent payment. The Board will hold a public hearing on June 14, 2022 which is required before publicly owned property can be sold.

Regional Jail and Regional Juvenile Detention Center: The governing boards of both the RSW regional jail and Northwestern Regional Juvenile Justice Center met this Thursday. Both organizations formally adopted their FY 23 budgets. Discussion continued at the RSW regional jail about options to pursue formal accreditation. No action was taken relative to this. There was also discussion at RSW about the merits of lowering the starting age of RSW employees from 21 to 18 which is allowed by law. The general consensus

was that the Superintendent of RSW had the authority and discretion already in state law to do so and that he and his staff should exercise their discretion when hiring including those under 21.
