The VMI athletic department announced Wednesday that Nick Regan has been named the head coach of the men's soccer program. Regan, an assistant coach for the Keydets the last two seasons, returns to the VMI sidelines after a brief hiatus, serving as the Director of the House Mountain Soccer Academy since January.
"Nick has a strong passion for VMI and the sport of soccer," said VMI Deputy Athletic Director Lenny Brown. "He has embraced what it means to be a cadet athlete at the Institute and demonstrated a commitment to the greater community. We look forward to the success that the men's soccer program will achieve under Nick's leadership."
As an assistant, Regan recruited team-leading forward freshmen Grant Martin and Cole Mooney.
"It is a great feeling to be back at VMI, and I am incredibly proud to be named head coach," said Regan. "I would like to thank Jim Miller, Lenny Brown, and Haley Shotwell, as they have been exceptional throughout this process.
"This is a new chapter in the VMI men's soccer story. Win, lose, or draw, under my leadership we will endeavor to embody everything that this great Institute stands for, and wear the VMI crest with pride every time we step on the field."
