Snyder Named to BlueBloods Preseason All-American team

11

Just over a week after he was named to the Athlon's 2022 Preseason All-America team, VMI senior linebacker Stone Snyder was recognized on the inaugural BlueBloods Pre-Season All-American first team as well.

A two-time All-American, Snyder earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors for a second-straight year last season and was recognized by the media as the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year. He led the league in tackles for the second-straight season averaging 10.9 per game and totaled 120 for the year (49 solo, 71 assisted).

Following the 2021 fall season, he was named an All-American by five separate entities: Phil Steele, American Football Coaches Association, Athlon, Stats Perform and Hero Sports.

Snyder led the team in tackles for loss (11 for 36 yards), sacks (4), quarterback hurries (5) and fumble recoveries with three. He was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 27 after a season-best 19 tackles against Wofford and was also selected to the 2021 Buck Buchanan Top 25 Watch list for the second straight year.

The 55-player All-American team is made up of 35 FCS programs and 12 of the 14 FCS conferences. The MVFC leads the way with 14 All-American selections, but the Big Sky and CAA follow closely behind with eight All-American selections. North Dakota State and Missouri State had the most All-American selections with four players a piece.
