Women's Soccer in England

For the next 10 days, the Shenandoah University women's soccer team is taking part in the third overseas trip in program history. After touring Spain and France in previous trips, the 2022 edition has the squad in England until Aug. 16.

During that time, co-captain Jordan Haack '24, along with Lexi Cook '24, are sending back daily dispatches detailing the team's activities on the other side of the Atlantic.

Cook takes back over for day five with a recap of more touring and a second successful competition.

We started bright and early with team breakfast at the hotel and then straight to Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guards ceremony.

The team loved hearing Des reminisce about when he was a kid and all the fun things he used to do with his siblings around town.  He was able to point out his childhood home and church he would go to every Sunday.

We then walked across the Westminster bridge, explored the surrounding town, and grabbed lunch.  Much of the team lost track of time.  Some were smart and ordered a taxi, but most chose to sprint two miles to get to our guided tour at the Tower of London on time.  There we checked out the Queen's jewels and historical exhibits.

We bused back to the hotel for some chicken pot pie pregame dinner and headed to Gunnersby Park to play Brentford. SU won 4-2 in a game that ended early due to lighting issues.  Afterwards a few of us headed back to Piccadilly Circus.  Tomorrow is our travel to Manchester!
