VMI Football vs. Wofford Game Day Central

VMI head basketball coach Andrew Wilson announced the signing of Tony Felder, Jr. to his program Monday morning.

Felder comes to the Institute by way of Malden Catholic High School based in Malden, Massachusetts, where he was a four-year starting guard under head coach John Walsh. The school's the all-time assists leader and second all-time leading scorer, Felder helped the team to a conference title in 2021 and the school's first ever state title in 2022. He scored 40 points in the state championship game to lead his team to victory.

He averaged 23.0 points per game, 9.4 assists per game and 3.2 steals per outing while at Malden Catholic.

"We are very excited to welcome Tony to the VMI Basketball family," Wilson said. "He will be a great fit for our style of play. Tony is a tremendous playmaker and makes the game easier for his teammates. He is a proven winner as he led his high school team to the Massachusetts state championship this past season. Tony has a contagious personality and will be a great addition to our program and the VMI community."

The Quincy, Massachusetts, native played for The Team Spartans AAU program and helped his team to a Top 10 national finish as four of his teammates went on to earn Division I basketball scholarships this fall.

Felder was a Dream Team All-State player, a Catholic Conference All-Star for all four years and a three-time All-Scholastic recipient.

An excellent student, Felder received Headmasters List honors five times and was a member of the National Honor Society, finishing high school with a 3.8 GPA.
