Second-Half Rally Falls Just Short in Loss to FDU

Down 52-41 at the half, the VMI basketball team used a strong second-half rally to come within three in the final minute but ultimately fell by a 93-89 score to Fairleigh Dickinson to conclude the JK 54 Classic Sunday afternoon at Willett Hall in Farmville, Virginia.
 
Senior Sean Conway and freshman Asher Woods led the Keydets (1-5, 0-0) with 20 points apiece as both hit seven shots during the contest to go along with four free throw conversions. Conway also logged seven rebounds in the effort, including six offensive boards.
 
Game Breakdown
* Woods finished 2-3 from three-point range and served as the key distributor by tallying a game-high five assists on the night as well as five rebounds
* Freshman center Tyler Houser ended up with 15 points – just three shy of his season-high from the SIUE game the night before – to go with five rebounds and     three treys. Two of the three-pointers were in the final two minutes of the contest to put VMI within three points of completing the comeback
* Tony Felder, Jr. also finished in double figures with 10 points during the game to go with four assists
* Finishing with seven points, freshman Taeshaud Jackson II registered a game-high nine rebounds
* Fairleigh Dickinson was led by Demetre Roberts and Grant Singleton, who both finished with a game-high 21 points on the night while Heru Bligen had 19 and     Ansley Almonor finished with 17. Both Roberts and Singleton finished with a game-high four treys throughout the contest.
* Sebastien Lamaute and Bligen ended up with six rebounds, including four offensive boards from Bligen that helped lead to 15 second-chance points for the     Knights.

VMI Head Coach Andrew Wilson Postgame Quotes:
"I really challenged the guys at halftime and they responded in a big way. We showed a lot of growth in the second half and have to bottle up that tenacity and fearlessness moving forward. Turnovers hurt us this weekend but we made strides in the right direction tonight & will continue to be an emphasis for our team moving forward."
