Following the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump on Saturday in Pennsylvania, Congressman Ben Cline condemned the attack and called for national unity in rejecting political violence.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with President Trump, his family, and the victims of yesterday's tragic shooting," Congressman Cline said. "Violence in politics is never the answer. Our nation's strength lies in unity, despite our political differences."

"We must have an independent investigation into the many questions that have arisen following this tragic event," Congressman Cline added, joining colleagues in calling for swift action to ensure the safety of President Biden, former President Trump, their families, and all Americans during this campaign season.

Congressman Cline stressed the importance of addressing political discord and fostering peaceful dialogue. "We resolve our differences through voting, not violence. It is crucial that we reduce political tensions and unite as one nation."

In closing, Congressman Cline called on all Americans to reject violence and embrace solidarity. "Let us focus on healing and strengthening our democracy through dialogue and mutual respect. Together, we can overcome these challenges and emerge stronger."

Congressman Ben Cline represents the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia. He previously was an attorney in private practice and served both as an assistant prosecutor and as a Member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Cline and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Botetourt County with their two children.
