Last week, Congressman Ben Cline conducted his annual Farm Tour over two days, visiting farms and agricultural facilities in Virginia's Sixth Congressional District. The tour began on Wednesday with stops at Delta Springs Farm in Mount Solon, Harmony Harvest Farm in Weyers Cave, and McNett Farm in Crimora.
On Friday, the tour continued with visits to Virginia Tech’s Alson H. Smith Jr. Agriculture Research and Extension Center and Glaize Apples in Winchester. The final stop was Gore’s Stephens City Meats in Stephens City.
Congressman Cline uses this annual event to engage with farmers and those involved in agriculture within the district. He aims to understand their needs and concerns regarding federal decisions impacting their industry.
“Whether it’s hosting farm tours, cutting bureaucratic red tape, investing in broadband for rural areas, or securing favorable trade deals for our agricultural products, I am dedicated to advocating for the agricultural interests of Virginia's Sixth District,” Rep. Cline stated. “From innovative flower growers to dedicated livestock farmers, our region is a hub of agricultural excellence."
Delta Springs Farm is a third-generation family farm known for its cattle production and use of technology like crop spraying drones. Harmony Harvest Farm specializes in producing specialty cut flowers for national shipment. McNett Farms focuses on commodities such as goats for 4-H livestock shows.
Virginia Tech’s research center supports horticultural fruit industries by developing sustainable tools and technologies. Glaize Apples operates as a fourth-generation orchard distributing apples locally and nationally. Gore’s Meats has been providing meat products from its family-owned business for 60 years.
Congressman Ben Cline represents Virginia's Sixth Congressional District and has experience as an attorney, assistant prosecutor, and member of the Virginia House of Delegates.
