WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman Ben Cline (R-VA) has been chosen as one of the impeachment managers who will present the House's case in a trial in the Senate against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Cline, representing the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia, released a statement expressing his determination to hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable for his alleged negligence and dereliction of duty.

In his statement, Cline accused Mayorkas of neglecting his oath of office and causing the "worst border crisis in our history." Cline emphasized the impact of this crisis on every community, including his own district, stating, "Every community, including Virginia's Sixth District, is now a border community facing the consequences of his dereliction of duty."

Cline further criticized Mayorkas for his leadership at the Department of Homeland Security, alleging that he exploited loopholes in the immigration system, disregarded established immigration laws, and jeopardized the rights and security of American citizens. Cline asserted, "Through his actions and repeated attempts to deceive Congress and the American people, it is clear that Congress must exercise its constitutional duty and impeach Mayorkas."

As an impeachment manager, Cline will join his fellow managers in delivering the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate when it returns from recess. Should the Senate act on these Articles, Cline will present the House's case for the removal of Secretary Mayorkas from his office.

Prior to his role in Congress, Cline had a background as an attorney in private practice and served as both an assistant prosecutor and a Member of the Virginia House of Delegates. He resides in Botetourt County with his wife and two children.

The impeachment of Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is expected to be a significant event in the ongoing political debate surrounding border security and immigration policies. With Congressman Ben Cline at the forefront, the House will make its case against Mayorkas in the Senate, seeking accountability for what they perceive as a crisis and a breach of trust.
