Senior thrower Tucker Kindig has been named ODAC Field Athlete of the Week in selections announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.
Kindig earns his second honor of his career after breaking the Shenandoah University men's hammer record twice this past weekend.
On Friday night, competing at William & Mary in the Colonial Relays, Kindig was the only non-DI athlete to qualify into the championship flight.
The program-record 52.98 meter (173' 10") toss earned him sixth place out of 16 competitors. The throw was good for fifth-best in NCAA Division III and he defeated 10 DI athletes in the event.
On one evening's rest, the Spotsylvania, Virginia native blew up the program's record book for the second consecutive day.
Joining the rest of the Hornets track & field program at the Battleground Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington, he reset the hammer record for the second time in 24 hours.
A first-place worth toss of 53.58 meters (175' 9") on Saturday is the programs new record.
Kindig's Saturday mark is still holding true to No. 5 nationally amongst Division III results and is atop the ODAC.
He also placed 12th in the discus with a throw of 31.54m (103' 6").
This weekend, Shenandoah travels north to Collegeville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, Apr. 9 to compete in the Ursinus College Invitational.
