Women's Tennis Shuts Out Macon

Fourth-seeded Shenandoah University advanced to the 2022 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament semi-finals thanks to a 5-0 win Wednesday afternoon over No. 5 Randolph-Macon.

Shenandoah (10-4) advances to the semi-finals for the first time in program history with its second victory over R-MC (7-6) this season.

IN BRIEF

The Hornets put themselves in position for the quick victory by dropping just two games in winning the three doubles matches.

Natalia García Molina and Jahveesha Combs, at No. 1, as well as the No. 2 pairing of Kelly Hudak and Lily Kimble were both 8-1 winners.

Allison Cherwien and Jada Lewis had opened the match with an 8-0 victory at No. 3.

Both singles wins came at love with Lewis winning at No. 6 and García Molina at No. 1. Both matches finished with moments of each other.

The remaining matches – at Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5 singles - were abandoned with the team result determined. Shenandoah was up a set in all four of those matches.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah travels to Lexington, Virginia this weekend for the semi-finals and finals of the tournament. The Hornets take on top-seeded and nationally ranked Washington & Lee on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
