We like to think of Valley Health as one large family, and nothing personifies that more than when family members and couples choose to work together in our health system. This week we highlight a husband and wife who are devoted caregivers at Valley Health.
Meet Susan Lessar, MS, RD, CNSC, VHS Director of Nutrition Therapy, and husband Jeff Lessar, MD, pulmonologist, Valley Health Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine
Susan
What do you like about working with your husband?
We basically had three girls in four years. Work was the only place we could meet for lunch and actually have an uninterrupted conversation. It is also nice that we have coworkers/friends in common and a sense of shared dedication to the mission and vision of Valley Health.
Why did you choose Valley Health?
Valley Health has afforded me the ability to practice at the highest extent of my credentials and supported me in my professional development. I appreciate the HRO work and money invested to ensure that we are providing the safest patient care.
Jeff
What do you like about working with your wife?
Because we both work at Valley Health, we can relate to each other’s stories and have a better understanding about each other’s day.
Why did you choose Valley Health?
Susan grew up in Stephens City, so when I finished my fellowship and we were looking to leave Baltimore, this was a great area to relocate to.
Work With Family
At Valley Health, we are looking for passionate, innovative, and caring people who will each bring their unique skills and perspectives to our workplace. We believe our exceptional team members are the foundation of our culture and key to our success at providing safe, high-quality care with high reliability.
We encourage our caregivers to invite their family, friends and network of dedicated colleagues to work (and perhaps live) in a community like ours. We offer an expanded employee referral bonus program which includes a $1,000 and up to $5,000 bonus (depending on position) for BOTH the referring employee AND the new hire being referred.
