Keydets Show Well at Paul Short Run
Looking to improve upon personal best times and progress toward the championship segment of the season, the VMI men's cross country team had several runners earn strong finishes Friday afternoon at the Paul Short Run presented by ASICS in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The men placed 35th overall with 885 points facing some of the top running programs in the country.
Senior D. Alex Fiorillo placed first for the Keydets in 138th place overall in 25:37.90 just ahead of fellow senior Trent Whittaker, who came in 149th in 25:42.10
Sophomore Brian Tavenner came in 172nd place in 25:49.90 and Andrew Hirneisen placed 214th in 26:04.80. Ben Hagerich also scored team points by finishing in 268th overall in 26:32.30.
Nicholas Ligday, Zach Diller and Stephen Kelley also raced for the Keydets.

"There were some bright spots with improvements in times throughout both the men's and the women's teams. However, there were also a few missed opportunities and some better racing tactics that could have been made during the race. I believe the team is continuing to learn each race and overall is trending in the right direction."
