Outage Updates, Friday, Dec. 16

Outage Updates, Friday, Dec. 16

As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, SVEC has about 700 members out of service. SVEC, contractors and co-op assistance comprise 40 crews making progress on outages across the cooperatives' service territory, with the goal to restore many members by 9 p.m. Friday.

Given the significant, widespread damage in western Frederick County, service will not fully be restored in that jurisdiction until Saturday. Additional information for Frederick County will be included in a post on this page and our Facebook page Friday night.

“My wife texted me, ‘How bad?’ I said, ‘It’s bad and it definitely could get worse, and if it keeps doing what’s doing, it’s going to get worse.’ And it did,” says Dennis Hamrick, a lead lineman in the Winchester District. “Trust me when I say we’re working as fast as we can to get members back on. And we’ll keep at it until we do have everybody back on.”

Multiple broken poles and downed spans of wire have caused major damage across SVEC territory. Some areas are also posing accessibility issues for crews.

We will continue to post updates until service to all members has been restored.
