Shenandoah National Park issued the following announcement on June 8.
Taking long road trips can be taxing on the driver, but that’s why the destination always brings a joyous feeling.
George Pollock always felt this way about his vision of Skyland Resort. He had an idea to utilize land that had been historically used for copper mining and molding it into a mountain top resort to offer a place to stay in the summer months, leaving the chaos of the city behind and exploring the land. In the beginning, he had his struggles in convincing others of his grand idea, but eventually he began to sell plots of land to build his resort.
Because of his visions and the construction of Skyline Drive, visitors still set their destination to Shenandoah to spend the night at Skyland to experience what it would be like to experience the park at the turn of the 20th century.
