On Thursday, Congressman Ben Cline (R-VA) announced a collaboration between his office and James Madison University to partake in the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project. The initiative aims to collect, preserve, and provide access to the firsthand accounts of American wartime veterans residing in Virginia’s Sixth Congressional District.
“Our veterans are a national treasure,” expressed Congressman Ben Cline. He emphasized the importance of preserving veterans' stories, stating, “Each one answered the call to service and any effort to collect and preserve their stories is a needed and worthy cause.” Cline commended James Madison University for its dedication to serving veteran and military-connected students in the district, highlighting the significance of their involvement in the project.
With over 18,000 veterans residing in the Sixth Congressional District, the partnership with James Madison University is poised to ensure the preservation of veterans’ legacies and sacrifices for future generations. After undergoing interviews, the veterans’ accounts will be archived in the Library of Congress, allowing citizens to learn about their service and sacrifices.
