Sixth District Representative Ben Cline has been appointed to the House select committee on the Chinese Communist Party. The committee's mandate is to study and determine effective strategies to counter Chinese influence in various sectors, including telecommunications, immigration, foreign affairs, and national security.
"My specialty coming from the judiciary committee, as an attorney, as someone who is on the intellectual property subcommittee I'm familiar with Chinese efforts to steal intellectual property from music to movies; you name it digital content is at risk online. So it's hurting the ability of American entrepreneurs to make a living or to succeed and we want to counteract that," said Cline, a Republican representing the Shenandoah Valley.
